ANXIETY PROBLEMS OCCUR WHEN YOUR MIND MISINTERPRETS UNCOMFORTABLE SITUATIONS AS DANGEROUS OR UNSAFE.

Although anxiety is a part of the human experience, when anxiety is too severe, too frequent, or not managed well, the symptoms can feel overwhelming and interfere with living your life. Anxiety and panic occur when our body is responding to non-threatening stimuli with a fear response, which can include increased heart rate, rapid breathing, muscle tension, and dizziness. Often, worried thoughts maintain the cycle of anxiety and include distortions that warp the reality of a given situation in a negative way. The good news is that anxiety and panic can be successfully treated with psycho-therapy, often prior to the need for medication.

At Denver Wellness Counseling, we approach anxiety treatment by helping our clients clarify and address the source of the anxiety, learn techniques to relax the mind and body,  manage their life in a way that reduces stress, and restore a sense of inner balance and peace. Through effective anxiety counseling, our clients find themselves prepared to tackle life's challenges with confidence and a sense that things will work out for the best. Those individuals who come to therapy, often feel empowered with in-the-moment tools and techniques to use outside the therapy office, where real life happens.

Anxiety is not only uncomfortable, but can also be debilitating and prevent you from fully engaging in your life and your relationships. Your therapist at Denver Wellness Counseling will help you understand your unique experience of anxiety, address the root cause of the anxiety, and implement techniques to relax the mind and body. Additionally, EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization, and Reprocessing) is an approach that has been life-changing for some who experience severe anxiety or panic attacks. At Denver Wellness Counseling, we can assess whether EMDR would be an appropriate approach for you. Visit our information page to learn more about EMDR.
