Born and raised in New England, I really never felt like I had found my true self until I moved to Colorado in 2005. Here, in beautiful Colorado, I endeavor to live my life to the fullest by incorporating a more holistic approach to being. Outside of my chosen profession I enjoy yoga, snowboarding, cooking, spending time with friends and family, and exploring nature.   I believe in living a balanced life that includes adequate time for rest, play, physical activity, self-reflection, work, relationships, and a good night’s sleep.

With an academic background in human biology and a fascination with the human mind and spirit, I was drawn to counseling as a profession. As a counselor, I have assisted hundreds of individuals and families on their journey to increased health and happiness. I enjoy helping my clients break free from maladaptive patterns based on their past to live a better and more fulfilled life. I enjoy asking the question “Why do you matter?” and guiding individuals in the realization of their innate worth and potential.

I understand how overwhelming it can be to find the right therapist for yourself or your loved one, so I’ve created a short list of some of the areas where I feel confident in my ability to help. Do any of these ring true to you?

Are you….

An adult who is struggling to reach your full potential (including the right to fully experience joy and contentment) due to anxiety, sadness, or feeling “stuck” in a certain life circumstance? My counseling approach includes a multitude of evidenced based approaches to assist those who experience frequent anxiety, sadness, low self-esteem, emotional numbness, or overwhelming emotions.

An individual who has experienced adverse or traumatic life events and have had a difficult time getting their lives back to a place of balance or well-being?  I am certified in EMDR and trained in a multitude of approaches to address trauma.  Additionally, I work with those who come from unhealthy family patterns and dynamics, including those who come from homes where abuse or neglect was present.  I also work with individuals who have been victims of crime, bullying, and interpersonal-violence.  For more on EMDR, visit my blog page HERE and click on the informational blogs about EMDR.

A parent who is worried about the happiness, safety, or health of your teen?  If so, I have extensive experience helping children and teens through a variety of issues including bullying, adoption issues, low self-esteem, parent-relational problems, high risk behaviors, identity issues, anxiety, trauma, and sadness.

A family member, spouse, or parent who is hoping to improve happiness at home? I have more than 10 years of experience helping couples and family members identify and change the maladaptive behavioral patterns that negatively impact family cohesiveness, communication, and growth.

Training & Experience:

I am the owner of Denver Wellness Counseling and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. Since receiving a Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Denver, I have worked in some wonderful agencies around the Denver area, focusing on individual, family, and group counseling for teenagers, children, and adults.

Prior to my counseling career, I was a high school Health and Biology teacher, and I continue to enjoy the opportunity to educate individuals, particularly about mental health and its important relationship to human biology.

I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy through EMDR Center of the Rockies and have integrated this treatment method into my counseling approach.   What I enjoy most about EMDR therapy is how it uses the body and brain’s natural capacity for healing in order to support growth and positive change on a biological level.   Learn more about EMDR at our informational page HERE.
