Eating Disorders

"Asking for help is never a sign of weakness. It’s one of the bravest things you can do. And it can save your life.” - Lily Collins

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions which are marked by significant changes in eating behaviors, physical health, thoughts, and emotions; related to body image, food, and weight. These changes can take a detrimental toll on one’s physical, mental, emotional, social, financial, and spiritual health. The most common types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and disordered eating.

Treatment for an eating disorder is unique to each individual and usually requires a team of professionals, including a medical doctor and registered dietitian. With your therapist, you will work to identify your unique needs and goals. From there, your therapist will help you to tune into patterns of thoughts, emotions, ways to take care of yourself, and address underlying causes of the eating disorder.

At Denver Wellness Counseling, we work with you to understand the root causes of symptoms and provide a therapeutic relationship that can be a safe place to start healing and create positive changes.
